Can I run four 12V "chinese" 10W LEDs in series on one LDD 1000-h unit with your 48V DC PS? (plan is to run 3-4 strings, worry is voltage drop across the LDD vs. the need of ~48VDC.

    Yes/Maybe/No

The LDD drivers with a 48v power supply can go up to about 48v (power supply can give the driver a bit more than 48v).  The 12V "chinese" LEDs might not be just 12v and could be something like 12.5v.  If they are 12v or less that would fit fine (12v x 4 = 48v).  But anything higher than 12v, and the LEDs might not get enough power to turn on.

You also want to consider the 1000mA.  You need to check to make sure the 12V Chinese LED can handle 1000mA, most cant so you have to get a smaller LDD (500mA version)
